Year Review 2025
The year is drawing to a close. Let's take a look at Software Heroes, the community, and the numbers. What's been happening in SAP development and ABAP? How have the blog and website performed?
Table of contents
This year, we're primarily focusing on SAP topics, which is why you'll find the review in the ABAP category for the first time. As always, we'll delve into these topics, but also touch on performance and social media. The figures shown refer to the period from January 1st to December 15th, 2025.
Focus
This year, the articles have primarily focused on current topics that you encounter in your daily work, such as RAP, BTP, and ABAP Cloud. Generally, there were numerous topics from various areas, so most readers should have found something of interest. However, the survey also showed that you are generally more interested in RAP and Fiori, as these topics have the most scope and complexity. A total of 140 new articles were added to the blog, as well as several overview pages.

Highlights
What were the highlights this year? Let's look at different areas that were spread throughout the year.
YouTube
This year we got serious and launched the YouTube channel. We've now reached episode 30 and have shown some interesting topics and developments. With Recycling-Heroes, we are pursuing a long-term development strategy for applications and content from the ABAP Cloud area.
Open Source
This year, we developed and released several open-source projects. Currently, our focus is primarily on ABAP Cloud and the ABAP Environment to support the current technology stack. Even though there isn't always time for development, the projects are a lot of fun; We did this because there was a lot to learn and try out again.
Events
We were also actively involved in various DSAG, SAP, and community events and gave several presentations. We gained a lot of experience and met new people. You can find more information in the personal review.
Performance
In this section, we'll look at reach, click-through rates, and subscriptions. We'll currently see internal figures for page views and external figures from Google search.
Internal
Regarding performance, we'll take a look at the top 10 articles of the year. We'll refer to internal page view and click-through rates. So, which articles really impressed you?
Surprisingly, it's actually a topic that describes the Google tool NotebookLM. This article received a lot of hits, primarily from Google Discovery, in the first three days after its publication. It was essentially about Clean Core, as is also the case with the second-place article. The new Level Concept was one of the hottest topics and was widely discussed in the community. Third place was for a more fundamental topic: how do you still use Ranges in modern ABAP development? All other places are then occupied almost exclusively by RAP topics, proof of how important the topic is now and will continue to be in the future. The final topic is Design Patterns in OO. This covered the evolution of a theme from static classes to modern design with a factory.
Google search is still a relevant metric for visibility and reach, even though more and more new search engines have entered the market in recent years. This year it performed even better than last year. This may be due to better visibility, more topics, and more interactions. Basically, we're also approaching 500 blog articles, which gives us a sufficient foundation for search engines.
In addition to the number of clicks, visibility in the average position has also improved by 4 places. This means that many of the articles are already listed on the first page of Google.
Social Media
This year we have further expanded our public channels and also launched our YouTube channel. Networks like X, Bluesky and Mastodon still play a subordinate role in terms of interaction and distribution of information. This means that growth will remain primarily on LinkedIn and the Software Heroes-specific channels.
| Platform | Number | Change |
|---|---|---|
| Software Heroes | 577 | +278 |
| LinkedIn (Private) | 6470 | +2298 |
| LinkedIn (SwH) | 1740 | +1740 |
| X | 161 | +15 |
| Bluesky | 363 | +149 |
| Mastodon | 22 | +9 |
| YouTube | 561 | +561 |
New this year was the "company" account on LinkedIn, where we share various posts and information, may also include things from past articles. In the middle of the year, we also revived our YouTube channel and now regularly share videos.
Costs
New this year, we would like to provide an insight into our income and expenses. This is not about the profitability of the website, but simply about covering our costs. This includes costs for website, domain, email, and IDE, and we generate profit on various platforms through donations or merchandise.
| Area | Costs | Revenue |
|---|---|---|
| Website and Email | 115 | |
| Web Editor | 82 | |
| PayPal | 10 | |
| Spreadshirt (Merch) | 38 | |
| Amazon (Books) | 36 | |
| Buy Me a Coffee | 28 | |
| YouTube | 0 | |
| Total in EUR | -85 | |
Basically, in addition to our free time, we also pay a bit extra money, but basically, we also gain a lot of experience and expertise in the ABAP and SAP areas. We also made many new contacts in the SAP community.
Outlook
Looking ahead to next year, your focus and feedback are quite clear. The new topics remain a focus for you and will need some initial support to get started. We plan to continue this next year and are preparing another larger series with new features from RAP development for the beginning of the year.
Thank you
From this side, we would also like to thank the community for the interesting questions this year. We were able to answer some questions with articles, and others we were able to answer personally. We also received a lot of feedback, for which we would like to express our gratitude.
